What is the beauty of a vacation home in Tuscany? Easter at the Casa is always something very special. Spring is slowly coming to Tuscany, the meadow is full of daisies, flowers are blooming everywhere and the birds are chirping the blue from the sky. The friendly green woodpecker, magpies and a few hoopoes frolic around the spacious grounds of the vacation home. It’s still a bit chilly at night, but as soon as the sun comes out, it’s like a German summer. The sea is still cool and refreshing, the beaches empty. And in any case, the water is already warmer than the North Sea in midsummer. But there is less wind here.

Wild asparagus also grows in a few hidden corners – sautéed with a little olive oil and served with pasta and a few datterini (cherry tomatoes), it makes a perfect spring lunch. In general, there is plenty of fresh and delicious fruit and vegetables to buy at the countless stalls along the streets. Always friendly sales clerks who are happy when I try to speak Italian.

Tasgüber was already so warm that the outdoor sofa was the center of the day’s activities. With a beautiful view of the greenery and evening sun, a coffee, wine and a good book, this is a real highlight of a vacation home in Tuscany.

And as the risk of forest fires is still low in spring – and I always take extra care – there has already been a first private Easter fire. Due to the winter storms, there is plenty of wood and branches lying around on the property. And this time, a rotten bench also got the nod. With the fire, it was so pleasant in the dark that I was able to observe the stars and, with the binoculars, the current comet 12p/pons-brooks.
