Exploring the holm oak forest of Casa Ferruccio

Are you ready for a little adventure in the wild nature of Tuscany? Then lace up your hiking boots and join us on an exploration tour through the holm oak forest of Casa Ferruccio. There is a lot to discover here on eight hectares – from old cork oaks to fascinating relics of times gone by – a real adventure, especially with children. Let’s get started!

Holm oaks and cork oaks – the guardians of the forest

Our adventure begins under the dense canopy of majestic holm oaks. These old giants not only provide shade, but also a habitat for a variety of animals. If you look closely, you might spot a few squirrels or forest birds. The cork oaks, whose cracked bark has survived for many decades, are particularly impressive.

The dilapidated chicken coop – a piece of history

A few steps further on, we come across a dilapidated chicken coop. The crumbling walls and overgrown grounds tell stories from another time, when there was still a lively hustle and bustle here. A perfect place to pause for a moment and imagine what life was like here many years ago.

The dilapidated bridge – crossing adventure

Our route continues to a dilapidated bridge that leads over a small precipice. This old construction requires a little caution when crossing, but don’t worry – a little adventure is part of it! The creaking boards and the rushing water below make the crossing an unforgettable experience – cross at your own risk!

The fallen iron mast – a relic of the mining industry

A special highlight on our tour is the fallen iron mast, which probably once played a role in mining. The rusty remains lie in the middle of the forest and are a reminder of the region’s industrial past. Here you can rummage around a bit and perhaps discover a few other old mining relics.

The oat-covered spoil heap – a magnificent view

To round off our exploration tour, we climb the harbor-covered spoil heap at the far end of the property. From up here, you have a breathtaking view over the entire forest and the surrounding countryside as far as the sea and Elba. A perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature to the full.

The way back finally leads through the olive grove back to the Casa – time for a dip in the pool to cool off or for a short trip to the sea.
