Castiglione della Pescaia

Castiglione della Pescaia is an Italian town on the Maremma coast with a medieval castle dating back to the 12th century. A very popular seaside resort on the Tyrrhenian Sea. And only a stone’s throw away.

Gavorrano > Castiglione della Pescaia: 30 km

Castiglione della Pescaia offers a beautiful old town with lovely cafés and restaurants. Of course, the beaches are recommended for a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the tower cannot be visited, some lucky person lives there. But from the viewing terrace below the inhabited tower, there is a wide view of the beautiful town and as far south as the Isola del Giglio (wasn’t there something…?).

  • The town: The old town is characterized by medieval charm. Narrow alleyways, historic buildings and picturesque squares create a romantic atmosphere. The fortress, which dominates the cityscape, dates back to the 15th century and offers not only historical interest, but also a great vantage point.
  • Beaches: The town is known for its beautiful beaches with fine sand. The long coastline offers both well-equipped beach resorts and unspoiled stretches for nature lovers. The clear waters and gentle waves make Castiglione della Pescaia a popular seaside resort.
  • Marina: The marina is a lively place with a mix of fishing boats and luxury yachts. Here, visitors can stroll along the promenade, enjoy the view and sample fresh seafood in the cozy restaurants.
  • Diaccia Botrona nature reserve: The Diaccia Botrona nature reserve is located nearby and is perfect for nature lovers. The wetlands are a paradise for birdwatchers and offer a contrast to the beaches and city life.
  • Culinary delights: The fishing village offers a rich culinary scene, especially when it comes to fresh seafood and fish specialties. The local restaurants serve authentic Tuscan dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.
